Renovation and conversion of a 3 storey listed building on the edge of a 540m² lot, and a warehouse in the backyard. The ground floor is dedicated to commercial purposes while the above levels are transformed into mini apartments for students. The existing facade on St. Jacobsmarkt remained untouched as being protected by the city council, the warehouse has been partly demolished and partly converted into 4 apartments. The empty space left by has been kept as a courtyard of 210 m² where the students can gather and share moments of relax. The main dwellings are set into the front house and the backyard extension while another two apartments are separated from the others and left in the opposite edge of the lot. The garden lays in the middle to catch and distribute as more light as possible and create a sort of a mini-village protected from the chaos of the city.
